Welcome to Follow Fest!

Follow Fest

Blog Button designed by Carrie Butler

Always late to the party.  Yep, that’s me.

I heard about this at the last minute–a blog hop called FOLLOW FEST, a “cyber meet and greet” for authors.  Isn’t that cool? 🙂  Many thanks to MELISSA MAYGROVE for hostessing and to AVA QUINN over at TONGUE IN CHEEK for putting me onto it.

Be sure to CLICK HERE to check out other authors who are participating!

And now time to move on and answer some get-acquainted questions:

Name:  Delynn Royer

Fiction or nonfiction?  Fiction.

What genres do you write?  Historical romance and romantic mystery.

Are you published?  I’m published in historical romance and I have a new romantic mystery set in 1920s Manhattan coming out in 2014 from Carina Press.

Do you do anything in addition to writing?

Chi-poodle

Chi-poodle

If you ask my husband, he’ll say “no” since I spend so much time on the computer, but actually I do.  I work fulltime. I also enjoy yoga, old movies, reading, and spending time with family, friends, and The Chi-poodle. (And not always in that order. I really do love that dog a LOT.)  In fact, here’s a pic of The Chi-poodle on her first day home from her hip surgery last spring. She received a lot of love that day and has since cheered up and is happily running around on all fours.

Where can people connect with you?  Right here at www.delynnroyer.com and my author pages are at AMAZON and at SMASHWORDS.

Is there anything else you’d like us to know?
I first published in romantic fiction in the 90s when I was a busy young mom. After that, I set aside my pen for many years to concentrate on my day job and raising two wonderful sons.  I’m now thrilled to be writing again and re-connecting with the writing community!

  1. I’m definitely a romance fan, though most of my “romance-esque” stories seem to not have the HEA that includes marriage and babies. But they still have happy endings, I think. 😛

Love the sound of your 1920s Manhattan series! Great setting.

It’s nice to meet you via the follow fest. 🙂

    • HI Trisha! Thanks so much for stopping by. It’s great to meet you. I think *satisfying* endings are what we need to strive for no matter which genre we call home. It sounds like your books fit the bill. I’m looking forward to checking out your site. 🙂

      • Many apologies for calling you “Trisha!” I don’t know where that came from! Heck…I went to all the blogs on the fest and must have gotten twitterpated in all the running around. Just tweeted about your wonderful blog, as well as on FB. Thanks for coming by my place, DELYNN! Again…don’t know where Trisha came from.

      • No worries, M.L.! I looked over my shoulder and didn’t see Trisha behind me, so I figured you were talking to me. 🙂 Perfectly understandable after a whirlwind week of blog hopping. (I’m still not done with my visits!) And thank you so much for the tweet and FB mention. Very much appreciated!

  2. Hi Delynn!

Good luck with Follow Fest! I used to be a HEAVY reader of romance novels when I was younger but now that I’ve returned to my writing I never seem to have enough time to read them since I work mainly in the children’s picture books and young adult genres now…;~)

If you get a chance come on over to my blog. I host a series called WRITERLY WISDOM where guest authors, agents, and illustrators are invited to provide posts on all areas of writing and publishing. If you get a chance come check it out!

    Take care,

    • Hi Donna! Yes, I think that’s one of the trade-offs we make when we return to writing. The time to read just for the pure pleasure of it is now hard to find. Your blog sounds interesting. I’ll be sure to check it out. Thanks for visiting!

LOL – I’m the same way.

Woot for Romance! And double-woot for Historical Romance!!! 😀

    Thanks for participating, Delynn. 🙂

    • Hi Jennifer! Thanks for visiting! I wouldn’t recommend taking such an extended hiatus from writing to anyone, but life sometimes sends us in unexpected directions for good reasons. Being away for several years now makes me all the more glad to be back. 🙂

    • Lol! Yep, I guess that pic says it all. I was so happy with the cover art for all of my reissued historical romances that I decided to make the most of it. My compliments to the talented Kim Killion at Hot Damn Designs. Thanks for visiting, Christine!

    • Hi Sherry! It’s great to meet you! I’m afraid too much time on the computer is a hazard of our job. Maybe writers’ spouses should have a support group… And The Chi-poodle thanks you for the compliment. 🙂

    • Hi Cathrina! It sounds like we have a lot in common with having taken a lengthy hiatus from writing and then returning with great enthusiasm [and well-earned wisdom… right? 🙂 ]. We should compare notes sometime. Thanks for visiting and now I’m off to visit your blog.

    • It’s great to meet you, Sara! Thanks for visiting. I love writing in the 1920s time period so much that the book coming out in 2014 is the first in a proposed mystery series. (And The Chi-poodle is blushing somewhere under all that black fur at your compliment. I think she’s adorable too.) 🙂

    • Hi L.G., it’s nice to meet you too. And Chi-poodle says a cheery hello (as it would be “ruffly” translated from Chi-poodle language, of course). I enjoyed visiting your blog today!

  5. I’m still getting around to everyone on Follow Fest. Great to meet you. Years ago we had a Chihuahua/Poodle cross – accidental, I’m sure. I thought we had the only one! Some days I called him a Chihuadle and some days a Poohuahua. His name was Jose. Great to meet you!

    • Hi Carol! It’s great to meet you too. I’m picturing a “poo-wawa” named Jose and having a hard time wiping the smile off my face. Was he smart? Mine is so smart, she barks not only when we mention the cat by name but when we spell the cat’s name or say “the cat.” (She wants all the attention.) Thanks so much for stopping by!

  6. Catching up on follow fest! It’s nice to meet you Delynn. I love yoga too, although I hadn’t been able to do it for several months because of knee probs. Miss it a lot. Very cute dog! Wishing you great success. I’m following and have liked your amazon author page. 🙂 Writer’s Mark

    • HI Nancy! It’s great to meet you! Thanks so much for the follow and for liking my page on Amazon. I can identify with the knee problem. That kept me away for a while too. I’ve eased back into it, but I’m taking it easy on that leg. I’m looking forward to visiting your Amazon page and blog soon!
